Peterborough Barbers Seven raise money for Cure GM1 Foundation

On Sunday 27th August the team along with friends (twenty four in total!)  climbed Mount Snowden in Wales to raise money for the Cure GM1 Foundation, a charity that is dedicated to funding research for a cure for GM1 Gangliosidosis.

Seven Barber Usman’s daughter Ayat was born with GM1, a rare genetic disorder which attacks the brain and spinal cord and is a progressive and degenerative condition with devastating consequences which is invariably fatal in children.

Owner of Seven, Shaz Ahmed, said:

“We are all here for Usman and his wife Aliya and give them as much support as we can through this difficult journey they are going through with their beautiful family”

The initial aim was to raise £1000 which we smashed in just a few hours!

After a cake sale and community event at the shop, a sponsored bike ride from local lad Louie (aged 12), combined with donations from customers and friends a staggering £16,074 was raised.

The climb was not easy! From 5.45am till noon the team walked through the cold and wet weather, pushing each other to get to the top.  We are so proud and grateful to everyone for everything that have done for baby Ayat, Usman and family.

Well done guys.

Here are a few pics!
