Are you making the most of your hairstyle?

Cutting hair is only one part of a barber’s job – which might surprise you!

Your barber’s job is to ensure your hairstyle suits you and your lifestyle, so you know how to manage it going forward. If not – you’ll likely come back the following week and ask for something different! Or worse still, go away thinking your barber did something wrong.

That’s why cutting your hair is only a tiny part of the process. As part of our service, we consult with you before and after your cut. This isn’t something you’ll experience everywhere (we know, as our customers are always telling us!), which is why we’re proud to hold one of the highest standards in the Peterborough area – check out our Google reviews.

Things your barber should be considering:

How much time (and money) you want to spend on styling products

If you show us a picture of a style you love, we’ll explain exactly what goes into styling it that way. You might need one or two products, and you’ll likely need to practice it a few times. But don’t worry about that, as at the end of the appointment, we’ll show you what to do (and we’re always on hand if you need help when you get home).

It’s your barber’s job to give you a realistic expectation of what’s involved so we can tweak it to suit your own personal circumstances.

The shape of your face and head

How someone’s hair looks on them, is not necessarily how it will look on you!  You may have a different hairline or a different head shape. This can effect or change the style, or how your face might appear, so we’ll guide you and tell you how we think it will work for you. It’s your hair and your choice at the end of the day, so although we know what typically works best with which face shape, we’ll guide you and you get to decide.

The thickness and colour of your hair

Not all hairstyles will fall the same way or look exactly the same depending on the colour and texture of your hair. Your crown might fall in a different place (or you might even have a double crown!). We might recommend powder over wax or adding in salt spray.

How often can you visit your barbers?

If your hair cut is going to need a regular trim then we’ll recommend timeframes. This means you’re fully aware of the expectations when you go away. We’d rather you booked back in a week earlier then give up on your new fresh look because your style grew out!

Aftercare advice and styling

If you have a fresh new cut, your barber should, at the end of the appointment, offer you some styling products and show you how to get the same look at home. We use and stock products you can take away with you (which we highly recommend) that are the products we swear by – the ones you just won’t find at the supermarket! They often last longer (a little goes a long way!), and you know you’re getting something we would be happy to use ourselves.

That age-old saying, “You pay for what you get,” is so very true in the barbering world! If you pay £15 for an experienced barber, you’re going to be in and out with little to no time for a consultation and a rushed cut. This only leads to unhappy customers or customers who hop from one barber to the next.

Many of our customers have been with us since day 1! They know that no matter what happens, they will ALWAYS leave with a cut they love, that we consider what they want, and that we offer our expert advice. It’s in our best interests to keep you coming back, so you’ll be well looked after.

FAQs

What hairstyle will fit my face shape?

Different styles visually complement different shapes, but we’d never tell a client they can’t have a hairstyle. Your hair, your choice! When making a big change, we might share some best practice advice with you so you’re aware of how your new style will frame your face shape.

How much do hair styling products cost?

Most powders, waxes, and sprays cost around £15, and if used daily, they should last for at least a month.

What is a double crown?

A double crown is when someone has two ‘whirls’ at the crown of their head instead of one. They might grow in opposite directions and are totally harmless – nothing to worry about. They are rare, so consider yourself special if you have one! They affect around 5% of the general population.

How often should I get my hair cut?

This can vary from person to person depending on the length of your hair and how long you feel you can go before you need to get it cut. Some of our customers come in every 3 weeks, some every 6. It’s recommended that you have your hair cut at least every 6-12 weeks to keep it in good condition and get rid of split ends.
