Finding a good Barber in Peterborough, Stamford or the surrounding areas isn’t always easy when today you’ll find several barbers all popping up on the same street. How do you know which Barbers is going to give you that fresh modern and even cut? They look similar but the pricing is different. You don’t want to leave a Barbers disappointed or even worse, needing to find somewhere to ‘fix’ your hair, so what are the signs to look for in a good barber?
It’s an obvious place to start but don’t overlook this one, and make sure you look for reviews in the right places. Check out the Barber’s Facebook page (make sure you’ve got the right one, there are Barbers in Peterborough for example that might have the same name as a Barbers in Stamford, or Norwich etc) and look at the reviews. Check they are in date.
Google is the most trusted place for reviews. What does google say? We encourage our customers to leave a review on google so that anyone that does want to visit us has a good overall picture of what we do. At the point of writing this we’ve got 339 5 star reviews that are added to every week so that’s the kind of consistent feedback you need to be looking for.
If the only reviews you can find are written on the Barbers website, by them, then these are not as easy to trust so do your due diligence and look for the reviews.
Your immediate thought might be to go with the cheapest barber. But what kind of service does that get you? The average rate of a good barber is around £20-£30. This might look expensive when you see Barbers charging between £12-£15 a cut but there are differences that you need to be aware of.
The cheap Barber is a walk in so you take the chance on waiting for a cut which can often be up to an hour or more. You also don’t get to choose your Barber.
With us you get to book a time that’s convenient to you. So, whether that’s on the way home from work in Peterborough or Stamford, or on your lunch break, you know that your time is going to be protected. You also get to choose your Barber and for us we find this to be one of the most important aspects as you build a relationship with that person. Your Barber knows your style and your preferences, and they will pass that information on to their colleagues so that you get that consistency.
The cheap barber is trying to get through as many haircuts as possible in an hour to make up a semi decent hourly rate. This can lead to messy cuts and no time to explore what it is you actually want or need.
With us we dedicate time and never make you feel rushed. The time you book is yours and no-one else’s. So you can relax knowing your Barber is dedicating every minute to you and not looking over their shoulder at the ‘huge queue’ of walk ins waiting for their turn.
This is something that will be more obvious in the reviews. If you’re looking for a cheap haircut, where you can pop in anytime and risk the long wait. And you’re not too fussy about it being rushed, then this doesn’t apply to you! In fact you should probably stop reading now…
But if you value experience then these are the signs you should be looking for.
- Your Barber is keen to know what you do and your preferences. This is so that they can create a style that suits not only what you want but your lifestyle too. If you are a professional who requires a professional cut, then they aren’t going to ask if you you’d like to experiment with a new trend that would look out of place. Equally if you want a fuss free cut that you can style very quickly they will want to make sure they create that for you. Consultation time is important and it’s something we always cover on every visit.
- When you enter the shop you are acknowledged. This sounds so simple but you’d be surprised at the amount of people who come to us and say how unfriendly somewhere was, purely because they were ignored when they walked in. They felt like a number in a line of people. We remember our customers. And we’ll know if you’re new and we’ll always make you feel welcome.
- They are considerate of mental health. The Barber shop has become a place where men feel more able to open up. It’s a relaxing atmosphere with gentle banter. And we’ve found over the years this for us has become more of the norm. We listen to our customers when they need to talk. And we signpost people to services if they ask for help. We all have mental health. And we all have good and bad says. We recognise this and our greatest value is knowing that this is where we make a difference in our customers lives. That twice a month chat and release they need to help them feel a little lighter.
So there you have it. Our list of top must haves to look for in a good Barber in Peterborough and Stamford.
