What are Aesthetic Treatments?
Aesthetic treatments are now more widely available than ever and form a part of many people’s beauty regime. Having aesthetic treatments is as common place as going for a facial in today’s world. But they can still be met with some apprehension and uncertainty. So, what are Aesthetic Treatments? Are they safe and why are they so popular? In this blog we’ll cover this and more so that if you are considering treatment to reduce wrinkles and gain a (natural) clearer complexion you’ll have a better idea of everything that’s involved. If you’d like to book a free consultation with Sarah from Be Perfectly You who is based from both the Seven Hair and Body Barber shop in Peterborough and from her home Studio in Ginton, then please call Sarah on 07554117911 or email info@beperfectlyyou.co.uk
What types of Aesthetic Treatments are there?
First, we’ll dive into the obvious question! What are Aesthetic Treatments? Essentially they are treatments that enhance your appearance. The enhancements however can vary greatly not only by their application but by each individual aesthetician, and at Be Perfectly You our goal is always to keep you looking like naturally you, with a clearer and more radiant complexion.
Aesthetics cover a wide range of treatments:
- Anti Wrinkle Injections – To reduce the appearance of fine lines and other skin complexities. This is classed as ‘non-invasive’ and these are the types of treatments Be Pefectly You provide. You can view the full list HERE
- Dermal fillers – These are an injectable treatment that is designed to contour. You might see this treatment more commonly used to enhance lips and cheekbones.
- Liposuction, Facelifts and other surgical procedures – These are procedures carried out by highly skilled plastic surgeons with the aim to create a longer lasting and fundamental change to a part of the body.
Whichever treatment you opt for, the professional you are working with should always provide consultations to ensure you are 100% happy with and understand the process.
Are Aesthetics Only for Women?
It’s a myth and misconception that aesthetic treatments are only for women. Your treatment provider should be inclusive of all genders, so whether you are non-binary, trans, male or female, the treatments are for everyone.
Signs of aging happen to us all, and we all have autonomy over our bodies, so just as you might get your nails done, have a facial, or enjoy a shave, opting for an anti wrinkle treatment is in our view very much on par with wanting to look and feel amazing. It’s also why we are so passionate about giving treatments that are natural looking and enhance your appearance.
Is Aesthetic Treatment Invasive? Will there be any ‘downtime’
The beauty of anti-wrinkle injections is that they can be administered very quickly and you can go straight home with minimal aftercare. As there is no surgical aspect, and very little discomfort, the practice can be carried out quite literally anywhere! It can take up to 2 weeks for full results to show but usually you will see a difference by Day 5. You have two options to choose from. A quiet space in the Barber shop at Seven Hair and Body located in Peterborough, perfect as an add on to your hair cut. Or you can visit Sarah at her home studio in Peakirk which is just 10 minutes away.
Will the Anti-Wrinkle Injections make me look very different?
The goal here is not to drastically change your appearance. The whole purpose of anti-wrinkle injections is to enhance your features and smooth out wrinkles. To make you look like you on your best day! You know that rare week when you’ve had 8 hours sleep every night, your skin is glowing and there is a slight spring in your step? That’s how you’ll feel when you look in the mirror. Aesthetician Sarah will go through the consultation with you to best figure out where and how much you need so you can be assured that you will leave still looking like you!
Are Aesthetics Safe?
Administering injectables is a medical procedure and should only every be carried out by a qualified professional. Many nurses choose to go into this industry. For example Sarah is a Nurse with 20 years experience in the NHS. Your aesthetician should be able to provide you with their training certificates and it’s a good idea to do your due diligence and make sure they have qualified with a reputable provider. Sarah for example completed her training with the Derma Institute who are a worldwide recognised training provider. Part of this training includes safety protocols. Your provider should be happy to answer all of your questions so that you feel 100% confident to go ahead with your treatment.
There is always a concern that some patients may want to undergo treatment to change their appearance for the wrong reasons. This might be because they are suffering with something called Body Dysmorphic Disorder. This is where someone is unhappy with a specific element of their appearance and may attempt several treatments to try to ‘correct it’ however, due to the nature of this illness, the perceived defect will never appear ‘right’ to them to it becomes very distressing. Very often people with BDD will seek out Aestheticians and so we cover this in our screening process (as should all good Aestheticians)
How to book your Aesthetic Treatment
If you know you’d like to go ahead, then the next step is to book a face to face consultation. We do need to meet face to face to better understand your needs and advise on the treatment. We need to go through the consultation process with you for your safety and to ensure that you are happy and understand the procedure – you are very welcome to bring someone with you.
We hope this blog as answered some of your questions around Aesthetics treatments but if you have any other questions then just get in touch with Sarah by email info@bepefectlyyou.co.uk
